Deichmann Store
In 2008, the project for the Deichmann flagship store in Essen was conceived with the goal of expressing openness, elegance, and a relationship with the urban context. Tensoforma translated this vision into a textile facade system capable of precisely following the building's curved geometries.
The main technical challenge lay in producing four-meter-high panels with varying radii, subject to the risk of deformation over time. To ensure uniformity and stability, a special chemical calendering process with an inert liquid was developed, capable of keeping the curvature of the elements constant.
The Texo60 aluminum profile ensures even tensioning of the membrane, while silicone elastomers compensate for the structure's movements and deformations. The micro-perforated Serge Ferrari Frontside View 381 fabric, flame-retardant and resistant to outdoor use, lets light and views pass through without compromising performance. The custom printing on the surface also reinforces the brand's communication.
The system, verified for wind and snow loads, was pre-assembled to simplify installation and ensure execution precision. The result enhances the building's curves and demonstrates how engineering, materials, and construction quality can translate into a recognizable architectural identity.
Transparency and curves
01Fluid panels connect inside and outside, fostering openness and urban dialogue.
Texo System
02The aluminum profiles ensure uniform tension and structural stability.
Long-term durability
03The silicone elastomers act as tension adapters, absorbing external loads and preserving the curvature.
Technical fabric
04The micro-perforated, flame-retardant PVC withstands weathering and is suited to outdoor facade use.
Identity
05Custom printing reinforces the brand while maintaining aesthetic consistency.
Construction complexity
06The curved panels feature varying radii, exactly reconstructing the building's perimeter.

There is only one goal: to create architectural envelopes that are unique, functional, and capable of expressing the brand’s identity. For us, every process is a collaboration, and every challenge is an opportunity to innovate. And every detail counts.
